Mayday! The Musical

Winner of 'Best Comedy Show' in the Latest 7 Festival & Fringe Awards 2007. Think Whose Line is it Anyway? meets The Mighty Boosh! Award-winning improv comedy team The Maydays return with their critically acclaimed show. Featuring your favourite Whose Line-style games as hors d'oeuvres, the masterpiece main course is a completely made-up comedy musical. Fuelled only by audience suggestion, watch as the show unfolds: everything including the songs, plot, music, lyrics, even the dubious choreography, is entirely made up on the spot. Maverick, masterful, probably a bit mad - this show is a must see.

“Good just got even better...this showed just how clever and entertaining people can be even without a script”

Argus! The Musical

News just in: as a bit of a twist on their current show, The Maydays present Argus! The Musical... A totally topical improvised comedy show with music, based on your cuttings from the local news on the day of the show. Choose an article and watch as award-winning improvisers The Maydays and their live pianist create a show where everything including the songs, plot, music, lyrics, and even the dubious choreography, is entirely made up on the spot and inspired by local events! Think Whose Line is it Anyway? meets The Mighty Boosh meets Anchorman, it's the sound of New-sic!

When The Script Hits The Fan (Short Form)

In the style of the familiar Whose Line is it Anyway?, we play a series of games using audience suggestions to create spontaneous comedy sketches and weave in totally improvised songs.

“I like to be in at the beginning of something, maybe it’s the Svengali in me – I prefer to see the Arctic Monkeys at The Freebutt, not Wembley – so I was thrilled to see the queue snaking from the two bars and the street into the cozy Marlborough Theatre for the Mayday Players”

The Improvability Drive

A four-star sell-out success at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2006, this show gives a new twist to the traditional improvised comedy show. The Drive itself is the climax where we play all of your favourite games at the same time!

“If you enjoy fast, high energy improvisational comedy from a group of seasoned performers, then you can’t go wrong in seeing this.”
The Groggy Squirrel, 2006

Punk Theatre (Long Form)

A word or a phrase is all we need to start off an hour of pure improvised theatre. Great depth of character, themes and plots will emerge and unwind in front of you. This is Chicago-style improvisation based on the teachings of Charna Halpern and Del Close. It must be seen to be believed.

“A sort of domesticated Pulp Fiction set in rural Britain…the show was funny, spontaneous and the actors had diverse and interesting characters which bled into their performances, ensuring the show kept going off in more and more wacky tangents.”
The Argus, 2005
